In Equity, the performance of Mutual Fund in the last 1 Year doesn't have much significance. But, when only 1 out of the top 10 small-cap mutual funds performs it needs appreciation.
Last 1 year has been worst for all Small-Cap investor and most of the investor portfolio are down with negative returns. Axis Small Cap Fund managed by Anupam Tiwari has been a clear winner in the last one year.

Top performing Axis Small Cap Fund has provided a positive return of 8.32% whereas worst-performing mutual fund is negative 10.51% from the top 10 small-cap mutual funds.
A few observations, I would like to discuss here is fund ranking.
- Axis Small Cap Fund has a low star rating compare to the worst performing fund.
- Point to note here is the expense ratio which is quite high compared to peers.
- The net asset of a top performer is also too low compared to its peers.

- Is this a fluke or best performance of the Fund Manager?
- Will you invest based on fund ranking or prefer high performer of the last year?
- Will you focus on expense ratio or prefer high performer in the last 1 year for investment?
- Are high net assets causing negative returns for investors?
